Possible Early Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis

A recent article focused on some of the initial symptoms experienced by multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. The autoimmune disease can present in many different ways and while no two patients will experience the disease in the exact same manner, doctors believe there are some common signs of MS.

Discover eight less-common symptoms of multiple sclerosis.

For 43-year-old Michelle Bowers from Colombus, Ohio, her MS was discovered after she had been diagnosed with optic neuritis. She was sent to see a neurologist and after an MRI scan was told she had the disease. Michelle’s eyesight continued to deteriorate and she lost the sight in her left eye.

The article explains that most people who are diagnosed with MS are in their 20s and 30s and optic neuritis is a common symptom of the disease. Another common symptom is numbness in the legs which Bowers also suffered from.

Doctors urge people who suffer from theses symptoms to get them checked out, and that although an MS diagnosis can be frightening, if it’s treated early the effects of the disease will be less severe and the person can live a full and happy life. Read more about Michelle in this ABC6 article.
